Raising your Self Esteem

Here's our take on Self Esteem or the lack of it. And how you can Change how you see things and feel more comfortable about yourself and what you believe are your negative points  Now ...

Self Esteem is about having the ability to accept yourself as being basically good.  That means liking yourself the way you are.

You see sometimes people thinks it means being really good at most things in your life, being really confident and strong because they are good at so many things ... and have lots of people telling them how great they are. They think it's for the 80% perfect people.  They think it's not for ordinary people who have good points and less strong points.

Well they are wrong because the research says so. So if you are now at the point where you feel your esteem is low, I'm going to make a suggestion. What I suggest is that you put that belief aside just for a bit and see what the research shows in Emotional Intelligence profiling.

Here it is ...

Self Esteem or Self Regard is the ability to appreciate what you perceive are your positive aspects and possibilities as well as to accept what you believe are your negative aspects and limititations ... and still to feel good about yourself.

See it's really about knowing your strengths and weaknesses and still liking yourself.  Because we all have strengths and weaknesses.  So it's not a problem.

Think of someone you really admire, someone you know personally and have seen in a variety of situations over a period of time. Now ask yourself, are they perfect?  Are they even 90% perfect?  Most unlikely I think you'll realise ... and even if they seem to have way more good points than negative points, do you think they look more at their positive aspects or their negative ones?

So which do you look at more - what you perceive as your negative aspects or your positive aspects?

Make sense?

So lets look at it again. Self Esteem or Self Regard is the ability to appreciate what you perceive are your positive aspects and possibilities as well as to accept what you believe are your negative aspects and limititations ... and still to feel good about yourself

You may be wondering what people find when they bring this balance back to their perceptions and beliefs. Because it is all in your mind and you can change your mind anytime you want to. And if you would like some additional help with this change, we're glad to help. But for now, lets go through what the experts and our experience tells us with people who turn around their perspectives on the strengths and weaknesses.

Because they have healthy self regard, they feel more secure, they feel better about themselves and they have no trouble openly and appropriately acknowledging when they have made mistakes or don't have all the answers ... and still feel good about themselves. Now how good would that be and what changes would those feelings make in your life?
